Body

Body procedures may be considered after pregnancy, weight change, ageing, injury or other individual circumstances. Surgery is not a substitute for weight loss, exercise or general health management.

Dr Chang provides assessment and information on body procedures, including abdominoplasty, liposuction, brachioplasty, and body lift. Suitability depends on health history, anatomy, skin quality, weight stability, expectations, risks and recovery considerations.

Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes excess abdominal skin and fat and may include repair of separated abdominal muscles where clinically appropriate.

It is performed under general anaesthesia. Risks include bleeding, infection, scarring, delayed wound healing, seroma, asymmetry, changes in sensation, blood clots, contour irregularity and revision surgery.

Arm lift (brachioplasty)

Brachioplasty, or arm lift surgery, removes excess skin and tissue from the upper arm. It may be considered where there is skin laxity following weight change, ageing or other factors.

The procedure involves scars along the inner arm. Risks include bleeding, infection, visible scarring, delayed healing, fluid collection, contour irregularity, changes in sensation and revision surgery.

Liposuction

Liposuction removes selected areas of fat using suction through small incisions. It may be considered for patients with localised fat deposits and stable weight.

Liposuction does not treat loose skin, cellulite or general weight concerns. Risks include bruising, swelling, bleeding, infection, contour irregularity, asymmetry, skin changes, numbness and the possibility of further treatment.

Body lift (belt lipectomy)

A body lift may be considered after signifi cant weight change or where there is excess skin around the lower abdomen, hips, back or related areas. The procedure is planned according to individual anatomy and clinical suitability.

Recovery can be signifi cant and may require time away from work and activity. Risks include bleeding, infection, scarring, wound healing issues, asymmetry, fluid collection, blood clots, contour irregularity and further surgery.
